Den Helder area

Tips for a fun day out

Den Helder, a town shaped by the sea, is home to various attractions in this area such as the Marine and Rescue Museum and historic Fort Kijkduin, built by Napoleon with a museum about its rich history and a sea aquarium with a walk-through tunnel.

The annually recurring fleet days also take place in Den Helder. In July and August, the lively Juttersmarkt is held every Tuesday in the inner city of Den Helder. A visit to historic Alkmaar is certainly worthwhile. A trip to the Wadden island of Texel with its endless beaches and charming villages is also worth considering. You are there by ferry within 20 minutes or take a lovely walk to the beach pavilion Zee van Tijd.
